Metro East Web Academy (MEWA) is a virtual (online) comprehensive charter school that serves East County and surrounding districts that has been in operation since 2009. MEWA is a non-profit 501(c)-3 and is governed by an independent appointed board of directors. The purpose of the school is to provide high quality online educational options for students who have difficulty attending traditional brick and mortar schools for a variety of reasons. MEWA offers a comprehensive virtual K-12 program, early college, credit retrieval and GED for students under 21 years of age.
